Home Offices: A “must-have” or a “don’t-bother”?

Home offices are a funny thing, much like dining rooms, people either have to have one or couldn’t care less. I was recently working with a buyer and I kept finding myself saying in every house we went in, “This would be a great home office.” And my client would always reply, “I don’t need a home office. Wherever I am sitting with my laptop in my lap is my office.” Now that I think about it, she was probably sick of me saying it, but too gracious to tell me to shut up :-)

I think the reason I try to create home offices in every house I enter is because I would LOVE one at my house. A place I could decorate to my own liking, that would not need decorating “buy-in” from any other member of my family. It would be devoid of ANY matchbox cars, Legos or Zoobs. Just a space to call my own. Quiet, clean and organized. Ahhhh…a girl can dream.

While I don’t really miss having a dining room, I do absolutely covet a home office.

Here are some great pictures of home offices on Houzz.
